Cutie Pie

Today I cleaned a five year old girl. She was so cute. I could tell she was nervous today because her brother came in a couple of weeks ago and had an extraction. So she kept asking if I or my instructors was the one that extracted her brother's tooth. So with her I explained everything I was going to do before I did it and everything I was going to use. That really helped ber becuase she wasnt' nervous later in the appoint and thought everthing I was doing was so cool. She really like the a/w syringe but she hated the light. Overall she was very compliant and I'm glad I got to treat her.

Mommy Day

Today my mom came into the clinic for me. She was another easy patient and I'm glad that she is a 1B. I just worry about getting class 2 and 3's in my schedule. I feel like I'm not getting good experiences under my belt. Another student just gave me her class 3 patient because she already has her class 3 requirements. I have her scheduled in like a month so I'm excited to see her. It will be a great learning experience.

Nothing Worked Out

Today was absolutely crazy! I had a patient come in for sealants and I wanted to pass off my air powder polish and sealant PE's on him. So guess what happens. I open his chart and see that he's asthmatic. Crap! So I got over that quick and decided that passing off a sealant PE would be good. But then I have the Dr. check his teeth and they are both cavitated! So I couldn't seal either one and I was out a patient for the day. So I quickly got on the phone and called people that I thought might possibly be able to come in. None of them could. But the boy I kind of saw had a younger brother (4 years old). So I asked the mom if she wanted him to be seen. She did so I had one hour to work on him. Thankfully I got him done and the day wasn't a waste. I find that it's always good to be positive and things just always seem to work out.

1B in One DAY

On Monday my patient cancelled on me so my husband came in at the last moment. It was a good thing and a bad thing though, because he said I had to get him all done. So I was even more stressed out to get him done. Luckily I got him done. I reviewed his health hisory, which took more time than most, took four bwx's, and did a full mouth prophy. It was great to get him doneand a good learning experience to learn how to pace myself. I did find myself looking at the clock more to motivate myself to work faster and faster. Overall I think it went very well. I now know that it's very beneficial to keep looking at the clock, even though it increases my stess levels.

Gramps Again

So the last time my Grandpa came in it was a disaster. So this time I really tried to be on top of everything while being professional. It went over quite well I think. Clinic is hard because some days I leave with confidence and other days I leave with none. It's such a roller coaster. I think I need to come into it confident and review each patient before they come in to prevent disasters. Confidence for me I think will be the key to success because I feel like I can do everything pretty well but I'm not confident to get in there and do it.
